Paris Hilton–famed socialite, heiress to the Hilton fortune, and early aughts icon–is getting married! The 36-year-old DJ/businesswoman is engaged to Chris Zylka, a 32-year-old actor/model who is best known for portraying the character Tom Garvey from the hit HBO show The Leftovers.
Hilton told Page Six that she and Zylka met eight years ago at an Oscars party at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. But they didn't get together right away. Hilton said they "flirted for years and years," until they reconnected at Art Basel two years ago. "My brother got a text because Chris had seen an Instagram . . . and he wanted to meet up," she said, which is an interesting way to ask someone out on a date, but clearly it worked, because they have been smitten with each other ever since.
Zylka proposed with a 20-carat pear-shaped sparkler during a ski holiday in Aspen, Colorado, last weekend.
"I am so excited to be engaged to the love of my life and my best friend," Hilton told People. "I have never felt so happy, safe and loved. He is perfect for me in every way and showed me that fairytales really do exist!"
She was pretty happy with the ring as well, saying "the ring was so gorgeous and sparkling. I was shaking as I put it on. It is the most beautiful ring that I have ever seen!" Which is pretty high praise, given her jewelry collection.
Zylka popped the question by surprising Hilton while they posing for photos on the slopes. He got down on one knee and presented the ring, and she said yes immediately. According to Hilton, she had known he was The One for a long time.
"Ever since our first date I knew there was something special about him," she said. "I have never in my life met a man so loyal, dedicated, and loving. I knew right from the start that I wanted to be with him forever."
The feeling is definitely mutual.
"Paris is the most beautiful and incredible woman both inside and out," Zylka said. "I feel like the luckiest man in the world to be marrying my dream girl. I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together."
Over the summer, Zylka cemented his love in the most 2000s way possible: getting a large tattoo of her name on his arm in a Disney font. Hilton was thrilled with the romantic gesture.
"Such a lucky girl!" she wrote in the Instagram caption to the photo. "My love surprised me & got my name tattooed in #Disney font. And said cause I'm his most magical place on Earth & he finally found his fairytale princess. #BoyfriendGoals."
In another post, the 36-year-old, who is (as far as we know) engaged for the first time, wrote "One day, someone will walk into your life & make you see why it never worked out with anyone else… 😍😍." Now, the only question is: will they be wearing Bride and Groom Juicy Couture sweatpants at the wedding? And for more on Hilton, learn why she's one of the 17 A-Listers Who (Almost) Always Fly Coach.
