Some dads are great at doing all of the things that women have for decades traditionally done around the house: cooking dinner, doing the laundry, and making sure the kid doesn't set himself on fire. Other dads fall more into the Mr. Mom category, and they… well, let's just say they need a little help.
Such is the story of Michael Walsh, a father who was forced to write an embarrassing letter to his son's teacher in which he admitted that the reason his kid wore an unsanctioned sweater to school totally wasn't the little guy's fault. Here is what he wrote:
Dear Mr. Field,
Sean tells me you have confiscated his sweater. He tells me in class that he conforms to the school uniform. He was absent from school on Monday because he had a cold, so traveling on Wednesday without his sweater was not too clever.
He told me the jacket that he wears regularly is acceptable, but it was stained, therefore he could not wear it. His mother was in Cyprus last week on a break and I, unfortunately, was not able to use the washing machine. Sean was too embarrassed at having a father who cannot use a washing machine to say this.
Anyway, my point is: Isn't this just a little bit petty? Life's hard enough.
Indeed, life is hard, especially when it comes to doing laundry, what with the detergent loading and the cycle choosing and the pressing start on the machine (OK, OK, we'll cut the guy some slack).
The letter was written all the way back in 2000, but Sean, now all grown up, just recently shared it on Twitter with the caption, "A letter from my dad to a teacher during my school years. I think the appropriate emojis are 😂 and 🙈. "Life's hard enough"👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻"

People are loving the tweet, which has been retweeted 2,725 times since Tuesday afternoon, relating both to the dad's struggles and the pettiness of the school (who confiscates a kid's sweater?).
"That's brilliant. I think I appreciate it because if my wife goes away my kids would be in the same predicament. I have no idea how to use the bloody thing," Twitter user Steve Savage wrote.
"My ex's grandfather went to school smelling like the farm from milking cows before class every morning. The teacher finally sent him home with a note saying he smelled too bad to teach. His father sent him back w/ a note saying 'you're paid to teach the kids, not smell them,'" Twitter user Real Neil Martin wrote.
Hopefully, Sean has learned from his father's mistakes and can now do his laundry independent of any assistance. After all, in 2018, picking up the slack when it comes to housework is one of the many ways to be the best husband ever.
